Cross Country & Track Teams

Mr. Steve Hokama

The Track team consists of students in grades 4 and 5. These students are selected according to their 100m and 200m times that they score in Physical Education classes. The students are selected by their strengths in sprints and/or endurance events.

The Track team participates in the Spring as part of the Mililani Complex Invitational Safe & Drug Free Schools Track Meet, held at Mililani High School. The Track meet involves individual events as well as team relays. This team also practices twice a week after school to prepare for this track meet.

The Mililani ‘Ike Elementary School Cross Country and Track teams were developed for the purposes of promoting school spirit, inspiring individuals to achieve personal success as well as team improvement, and encouraging healthy life time habits.

The Cross Country team is made up of students from grades 3 to 5 and students make the team through grade level qualifying runs. The team practices twice a week after school in the fall and participates in the Mililani Complex Pursuing Victory With Honor Cross Country Meet that is held at Mililani Middle October 2015. Try - outs will be held in the first part of August 2015 during school hours by Mr. Hokama.  Interested students should be on the look out for permission forms to participate in qualifying.

The teams provide for its individuals by:

▪Helping them develop their athletic abilities to the best of their ability.

▪Demonstrating that cooperation leads to team success.

▪Instilling sportsmanlike conduct and accepting both winning and not winning with grace.
