The Mililani ‘Ike Choir (`Ike Pride Singers) provides students with the opportunity to enhance their lives with through vocal artistry, musical expression, and pride. Its purpose is to develop, enhance, and instill character with insight, cultural awareness, respect, and self-discipline. It also provides opportunities for music appreciation by direct exposure and involvement in this art form.
The Choir is open to interested students in grades 3-5. Auditions for possible membership is held at the beginning of the school year. Members are expected to attend regular rehearsals and are required to participate in performances. These performances are for the school and the general public.
In the past, the 'Ike Pride Singers have performed at the Ala Moana Center Stage, the Pearl City Cultural Center, the Royal Hawaiian Band Children's Choral Festival, Mililani Town Center, and at Mililani High School. They regularly perform in a Winter and Spring Concert, lead the school-wide songs in the quarterly ‘Ike Pride Assemblies, and sing for the Character Counts Wellness Fair and the Mililani Complex Choral Festival.
As a member of the Mililani ‘Ike Choir, students learn to:
▪ sing age appropriate songs
▪ blend their voices with a larger ensemble
▪ enjoy and appreciate different genres and music from a variety of cultures
▪ produce high quality performances
▪ be responsible learners by memorizing music and attending regular rehearsals.
